Placing a Shield of Protection Over our Nations - Pt. 3

RPN

This prayer guide is part three of a 911 prayer alert I issued in October to cover college campuses, our cities, and our nations for 21 days, from 11/11/23 through 12/1/23. It began with a word I received as I came into Israel in mid-September when the Lord showed me acts of terrorism that would come against them.

You can read part one here, where we covered our college campuses, and part two, where we focused on cities, here. Those guides will give you more of the background and significance of this season of prayer.

This portion will take us through the final week of the season of prayer – from 11/25/23 to 12/1/23.

Part 2 – Prayer for our nations.

We have just celebrated one of my favorite times of the year! America’s Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends, thanking God for His goodness and mercy. Its roots go back long before the nation was formed, when Puritans, seeking religious freedom, landed on this continent’s shores at Plymouth. From the time they landed, they thanked Him for bringing them there, and they sought Him for everything they needed on a daily basis.

The way they became confident of His protection and provision was in the culture of daily prayer they lived in. From the moment they set foot on the shores of their new homeland, they covenanted with God for their future. This was not a religious exercise for them, but a heartfelt outpouring of daily thanks for bringing them through a treacherous journey into a future they could not see, but one in which they knew they could trust Him.

The Puritans are just one example of many where people have been led by God through impossible challenges and yet, through prayer with thanksgiving, saw Him establish them in peace over time. Canada also has a Thanksgiving Day, and other nations have set aside special times to honor God as well.

The Bible tells us the story in Exodus and Joshua about the Israelites coming out of slavery and into the promised land. Moses and Joshua constantly reminded them of God being with them, so they could worship Him and find a place of protection and provision until they secured the land and could rest in it.

With our current world in turmoil and uncertainty, it is so important that we keep our eyes firmly fixed on God – the Author and Finisher of our faith. He can protect the citizens of our nations just as He protected those early pilgrims new to the Americas, and the Israelites in their promised land. Those of us who truly know the Lord can pray and believe for His intervention for our entire nation.

How to pray:

  • Continue fasting in some way.

  • We always want to prepare our hearts for a season of spiritual warfare. This is so we can pray as God leads us and not out of any place of anger, fear, or judgment of others. 2 Chronicles 7:14 shows us how to begin: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.” See all the steps leading up to “…and heal their land”? Let’s humbly begin with repentance from any known sin, then ask Him to reveal any area of sin we may not be aware of. It is possible for some people to get so fearful that they fall into doubt and unbelief to the point it becomes sin. Fear prevents us from knowing how very much He loves us. This causes a lack of trust in His perfect ways, which can lead to us praying amiss. Ask God to show you any bondages of fear in your life in this tumultuous time.

  • The theme of this 21 days of prayer is Psalm 91. This is a psalm of protection over those who have placed their trust in the Lord. Ask the Lord to extend this promise over all who live in your country, because you, a Believer, are asking. Find your favorite version and pray it over your nation.

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God and I trust Him. For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with His feathers and He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says: I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” (NLT)

  • Daniel in the Bible was a man who knew God and lived in the middle of a very corrupt society. He was captured and taken to Babylon. Yet, the Lord gave him the ability to intercede for His people in captivity. We see his prayer in Daniel, chapter 9. Pray this prayer taken from that passage over your nation, inserting your country’s name:

Lord, forgive [name of your nation], as we have refused to seek your mercy, turning from our sins. We have not recognized your truth. You have done great things for [name of your nation] yet we have not acknowledged your wonderful acts on our behalf. So, Lord, hear our prayers. Show favor to {your nation’s name.] We make this plea, not because we deserve your help, but because of your mercy. Oh Lord, forgive. Oh Lord, hear and act. Lord, do not delay, for your sake, and for the sake of those in this nation that bear your name. We will watch for signs of your protection and intervention so we can point them out to others, and we will thank you in advance. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

  • Pray against terrorism in your country. Command light to shine in the darkness, so everything being planned against your homeland will be exposed. Cover the borders of your nation in prayer. Plead the blood of Jesus over the borders and tell the enemy he and his cohorts cannot cross them. Pray over every border, including those bound by oceans, rivers, and other waterways. The enemy can infiltrate by land or by water.

  • Pray over each segment of society in your country. With revelation God has given to Lance Wallnau and others, we have broken these influential areas of society into Religion, Family, Government, Business, Education, Arts and Entertainment, and Media. Mindsets are being taught in these mountains that often ignore God or outright attack Him. Humanism is rampant. This rejection of God opens a door of vulnerability to the enemy’s plans. It steals our children from us, and brings curses on the land. It is a form of long-term terrorism. Ask the Lord to show you how to pray over each segment. Take your time, and maybe take one segment each of the seven days. Do some research on each or look for current news articles that can help you know how to pray.

  • Ask God if there is any other area of society He would like you to pray into. There are strongholds in culture, made of generational sin or activities not pleasing to him. Idolatrous worship or superstition could be an area. Free masonry may be strongly influential in your nation. Or maybe there is much greed and murder due to types of national resources. Maybe there are numerous racial groups that have traditionally hated and persecuted one another. Ask the Lord for scriptures to pray into the area He shows you to focus on. Bring His life and purity into your country – ousting the wickedness and establishing altars of worship to the One true God through Jesus Christ, instead!

  • Finish these 21 days of prayer for protection by taking communion. Worship Him and thank Him for placing a hedge of protection over your country. You are His instruments of peace in the earth. Don’t stop partnering in prayer with Him on an ongoing basis on behalf of your nation.

For the future of our nation,

Cindy Jacobs
