What Is The Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders?
The Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders is a group of prophets who have met together since 1999 at the beginning of each year. It has been our desire to issue a word that will be one of prophetic consensus as opposed to simply that of one prophet. Our foundational passage of scripture has been drawn from Acts 13:1-3.
One of the reasons we started meeting was to seek the Lord, judge various words of warning that were coming from prophetic circles, and discern what the Lord was saying. For instance, in our initial gathering in 1999, the Lord spoke of something that would come in the way of Islamic terrorism to the United States.
I will personally never forget that day. Several of the prophets in the meeting had dreamed warnings of cataclysmic events that would strike the east coast. As we prayed, a word came forth that stated, “You cannot completely avert what is coming, but if you will intercede, you can lessen it.” With that, we began to intercede and weep. We knew that when the attack came on 9/11 that this was the attack that we had seen.
Another one of the words we issued that year was that war was coming. We have fought wars in two nations since that time.
Each year, we bring what God has said to us separately as well as what we have gleaned from our travels. We spend much time in prayer together and have pretty deep discussions as well. It is a deeply enriching experience for all of us.
There have been many times when we have felt the Lord desired us to pray and prophetically decree as elders. We are blessed to have leaders among us who have been pioneers of various movements of God in the Body of Christ.
Of course, we are aware that there are other round tables of prophets and are always interested in and rejoice to hear what the Lord is saying through them as well.
Next year, we are expanding our influence beyond our generation and inviting a few young leaders to join us on the round table. We are also going to have a time of prayer and dialogue with a more expanded group of international prophets. Currently, the round table does consist of some internationals, such as from Israel, but we are going to be more intentional about it next year.
