Amsterdam Stock Exchange

Prayer at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange
On Oct. 29th, 2008 30 Dutch intercessors from different cities met to pray for the economy at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

We decided that it was important for us to heed your call to prayer after discovering that the Amsterdam Exchange is the oldest Exchange in the world dating back to 1611. We also found out that there are definite links between Amsterdam and New York. Wall Street is named after the Dutch “Wallen” (or “Walls” in English) which are located in the middle of the Red Light District of Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Exchange is also run by the New York Exchange and has official links to the exchanges in Brussels, Lisbon, London and Paris.

After preparing ourselves in prayer in the YWAM 24 hour house of prayer in the Red Light District, we walked to the Stock Exchange. We were fortunate enough to have been able to arrange a 90 minute tour of the Exchange for the group. This provided us with a detailed history and allowed us to pray in almost every room of the Exchange. The highpoint for all of us was when we were able to pray directly over the floor of the Exchange for 20 minutes.

Principle revelation
There are 3 strongmen over the Dutch economy. They are Mammon, witchcraft and pride.

Principle Bible texts
Micah 2:13 One who breaks open the way will go up before them. They will break through the gate and go out. Their king will pass before them with the Lord at their head.

Micah 6:8 He has showed you O man what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

In Christ,
