Proposition 8 and California Urgent Call to Prayer and Immediate Action Required!

Dear Intercessors,
We would like to express our appreciation to all of you who have been standing with us in prayer for righteous rule and the preservation of life, marriage and family in the State of California and in our Nation.
With the help of Marilyn Noorda, the USRPN Apostolic Prayer Coordinator for the State of California, and her Executive Coordinator, Vicki Nohrden, we are providing you with an informative report on recent developments in the battle for family and marriage in this nation. This is an urgent request for you to mobilize your intercessors and the Body of Christ in your sphere of influence to pray and fast for the State of California.
For those who may not be aware, Proposition 8 defines marriage exclusively between a man and a woman. In the November 2008 election, Prop 8 passed by 52% to 48%. The gay community, however, became outraged and sued the State of California, stating that Proposition 8 is not Constitutional.
We are continuing to stand to see the vote of the people enforced in California regarding Proposition 8. Our battle encompasses the judicial system, the voice of the media and political agendas in our state to overturn the vote of the people. The constitutional rights of our freedom are weighing in the balance. It's been said many times, "As California goes so goes the nation", and if Prop 8 is overturned and deemed unconstitutional it could result in national consequences, including damaging our free speech rights in churches and . California needs the prayers of the body of Christ. The next two months are a critical time in this battle.
"We are at one of those moment. This is THE major change point of the last few decades..." - Dr. Jim Garlow, Skyline Weslyan Church
This report includes various prayer and action points, that we encourage you to participate with--immediate prayer and action is required!
On March 5, 2009, the California State Supreme Court will hear the oral arguments for and against Prop 8,and decide whether to overthrow Prop 8 as law in California.
Today, February 17, 2009, the California State Assembly and Senate held public hearings on two resolutions that encourage the California Supreme Court to overturn Proposition 8.
Our good friend, Lou Engle, has issued a strategic call to prayer scheduled for February 22-25, 2008 in Pasadena, California.
Please forward this urgetn call to prayer and action to your networks. We must be proactive for the preservation of our nation's destiny!
Engaged in the battle,

Cindy and Mike Jacobs
Resolutions to Overturn Prop 8 Up for Votes!
Today, February 17, 2009 the California State Assembly and Senate held public hearings on two resolutions that encourages the California Supreme Court to overturn Proposition 8. Both resolutions were being pushed by two homosexual Democrats in the State Senate and Assembly.
House Resolution 5 was prepared by San Francisco Assemblyman Tom Ammiano. Senate Resolution 7 was prepared by San Francisco State Senator Mark Leno.
These resolutions are up for a vote. If passed, HR 5 and SR 7 would make it state policy to invalidate Proposition 8! The will of over 7 million California voters that passed Prop 8 would be ignored and voided!
The arguments presented at these hearings did not, however, address the underlying issue of whether same-sex marriage is good public policy; they only address whether Proposition 8 was properly passed via the initiative process. To read HR 5 and SR 7 talking points covered in today's hearings, click here.
Here is what you can do immediately:
Please pray for God to guide your State Assembly Member and State Senator in the voting process.
Contact Your Judiciary Members:
Flood members of the Assembly and Senate Judiciary Committees with phone calls and emails! They must know that the public is opposed to undermining Prop 8.
Contact your State Assembly Member and ask that they oppose HR 5.
Contact your State Senator and ask that they oppose SR 7.
Please take action today! For more information, visit:

Oral Arguments on the Constitutionality of Prop 8!
March 5 Court Hearing
The California Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in San Francisco on Thursday March 5 from 9 am - 12 pm PST concerning the constitutionality of Proposition 8. The arguments could possibly continue to be heard on Friday, March 6. The Court address is 350 McAllister Street, San Francisco, CA 94102. For more information, the Court's Clerk can be reached at 415-865-7000.
Californians passed this marriage-protection amendment to their constitution by a strong majority of 599,602 votes. Opponents of the proposition are arguing that (1) it is an illegal revision of the Constitution and (2) it eliminates inalienable rights without compelling reasons. The Court will release its decision 90 days after the hearing.
- In the cases before the court, the court has issued an order listing the following three issues to be briefed and argued:
- Is Proposition 8 invalid because it constitutes a revision of, rather than an amendment to, the California Constitution?
- Does Proposition 8 violate the separation of powers doctrine under the California Constitution?
- If Proposition 8 is not unconstitutional, what is its effect, if any, on the marriages of same-sex couples performed before the adoption of Proposition 8?
Live TV Broadcast
To increase public access to the court session, the Supreme Court has designated the California Channel, a public affairs cable network, to provide a live TV broadcast of the session and to serve as the "pool" channel. California Channel will provide a press pool outside the State Building to facilitate coverage of the oral argument by television and radio stations. For a list of cable companies that carry the network, click here.
Supreme Court Justices
Please pray for each justice by name that will hear the case: Chief Justice Ronald George, and Associate Justices Carlos Moreno, Joyce Kennard, Kathryn Mickle Werdegar, Ming Chin, Marvin Baxter and Carol Corrigan. Chief Justice Ronald George was the deciding vote that struck down Prop 22. (4-3)
Proposition 22 prevented California from recognizing same-sex marriages. Voters adopted the measure on March 7, 2000 with 61.4% approval and 38.6% against. On May 15, 2008, the California Supreme Court struck down this initiative and related California law in a 4-3 decision, giving same-sex couples the right to marry. This measure is also known as the Knight Initiative, after its author, the late state senator William "Pete" Knight. It may also be cited as the California Defense of Marriage Act.
Here's what you can do immediately:
Present Your Case: Send in a letter to the justices asking them to uphold Prop. 8. Click here to print your letter.
Promote Biblical Marriage: If possible, make a presence at the court on the day of the scheduled hearing. To try for a seat in the hearing, you'll need to arrive around 6:30 a.m. or earlier to stand in line. Bring tasteful signs reading "Marriage = 1 man + 1 woman" and "The voters have decided." Stand outside the courthouse with others in what should be a media frenzy with a national TV audience.
Pray:
- That the arguments of the Prop 8 legal team would be strong and convincing, and that demonstrations would be impactful, yet peaceful. (Acts 4:29)
- That God would watch over Proposition 8 to preserve it. (Psalm 93:5, Prov 22:12)
- That Christians would be ready and willing to take action when efforts to advance the homosexual agenda are initiated. (Heb 13:4)
Even if you do not live in the State of California, the impact of overturning Proposition 8 is national in scale. Watch this video about a Masschussetts family's battle with the public school system, after teachers began teaching second graders about gay marriage in the classroom. Watch video now.
Homosexual Adoption Wars in California
Please also be aware that California's liberal Republican Governor, Arnold Schwartzenegger, and Los Angeles County's Democrat-controlled Board of Supervisors are co-sponsoring a billboard campaign to promote homosexual-bisexual-transsexual adoption of children.
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation, an opponent of the natural family, is partnering with the California Department of Social Services and the County of Los Angeles to sponsor two billboards, one in West Hollywood, and later, another in Alameda County, that encourages homosexuals, bisexuals, and transsexuals to apply to become adoptive parents and bring impressionable children into their homes. The California Department of Social Services is under the lead of openly homosexual director John Wagner, a Human Rights Campaign advisory board member.

Strategic Call to Prayer from Lou Engle
Our good friend Lou Engle has been an ambassador for life and family for decades. Through the ministry of TheCall, which was founded in the State of California, he has led millions in prayer and fasting for the soul of our nation. This week, with a heavy burden upon his heart for this nation, and the State of California in particular, Lou has issued a strategic call to prayer that we encourage you to be a part of.
"The darkest circumstances are the backdrop scripturally speaking of the ordination of the greatest prophets and revival movements. It was in a context much like the one we face today that God called forth Elijah and a prophetic people who would resist the ideologies of darkness and contend with the Spirit of Jezebel. In two generations the renegade government was overthrown, Baal worship was eradicated, and the worship of Yahweh was majorly restored."
"So too in California God is wanting an Elijah Revolution. Something must come that is more powerful than the rebellion of the sixties. Revival and reformation can be injected into the state through a stubbing Elijah people." Read more...
